Offer to local coaches

THE BREWSTER TRUST invites local coaches to assist and shadow the charity’s coaching team; interested coaches have the opportunity to register for the camp, assigned to individual ages and individual weeks.

Organiser

The Football Holiday Camp 2017 is organised by THE BREWSTER TRUST, a registered Charity in Bar-bados. The trust’s mission is to promote, develop and improve football in Barbados with the aim of creating opportunities at all levels, especially for the youth. To impart the qualities of leadership, loyalty, sportsmanship, competitive ambition and the drive for academic excellence as well as discipline, fair play and respect is our ultimate goal, just as the fruitful co-operation with all national and international football stakeholders.

Coaches

The head coaches at the camp are alumni of Arsenal FC’s Gap Year Programmes. The Gap Year is open for young men and women over the age of 17 who gain valuable qualifications in coaching, refereeing, first aid, child protection and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

The coaching team is under the special guidance of Nathaniel P. Brewster, Vice-President and co-founder of THE BREWSTER TRUST.

The age groups

The two-weeks programmes are all about the youth. The training sessions are age group and performance related and following THE BREWSTER TRUST’s mission it is football for everyone straight from the beginner, full of fun and surprises.

Coaching in several groups – coaches are assigned to groups to encourage familiarity with the young people. The coaches will work with that same group over the course of each two-weeks.

THE BREWSTER TRUST offers again the age group 15+ mainly to integrate parents as well as senior players to the charity’s football programme.

Coaching elements

Coaching elements will be multifarious with daily competitions based on the session, basic passing techniques developing the range and accuracy of the players, developing the players’ basic dribbling and turning techniques like dribbling at speed, slalom dribbling, dribbling with turns incorporated, control sessions and heading sessions including aerial control with the focus on using various parts of the body like feet, knees or chest, basic techniques of shooting with a development focused on shooting with various parts of the strong and the weak feet, 3 vs. 2 and 4 vs. 3 shooting sessions and mini matches or a tournament at the end of the two weeks. This will be followed by presentations to all players as well as “Most Outstanding Player” and “Fair Play” awards being handed out.

Besides the sessions on the field the programme includes classroom sessions with football as part of general literacy, indoor Futsal sessions and teaching the rules and laws of football. Camp partner “The Word’s Magic” is providing daily reading classes for the ages 5 to 14.

Venue

The Football Holiday Camp is going to be held at The Parkinson Resource Centre, The Pine, St. Michael; security, drop-off and pick-up zones as well as parking will be organised; our venue partner in conjunction with the Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy will provide changing rooms, class rooms, toilets and bathrooms – and of course a “lost and found”. We don’t want to miss to thank the Community Development Department of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment & Community Development for the hospitality and the generous support.

Camp Partners PINEHILL and Plus Revitalize take care of beverages. Water coolers and bottle filling stations are accessible for everyone in the Camp Village – the meeting point during the programme.

Final remark

As footballers THE BREWSTER TRUST doesn’t write team with an “I”. To organise a programme like the Holiday Camp 2017 and to entertain this amount of campers including their families on a day-to-day basis for four weeks – reliable partners with passion and commitment make the difference. Therefore our thank goes to our venue partners The Parkinson Resource Centre and Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy, UNICEF, PUMA, MASSY UNITED Insurance, Island Care, PINEHILL, Plus, Michael Greaves Associates (Barbados) Inc. and the many others and volunteers in the background for the fantastic support. Much appreciated.

Consider discipline, fair play and respect for the game.
