THE BREWSTER TRUST’s Football Holiday Camp 2014 took place at Queen’s College with various age groups during four weeks in the months of July and August 2014.

Facts & figures

The charity hosted 222 registered campers in the first group of the age group 5-14 years, 44 campers in the age group 15+, 229 campers in the second group of the age group 5-14 years and finally 16 local coaches who assisted in the programme. 511 campers in total participated in the 2014 programme including 52% newcomers and 48% re-joins from the camps in 2011, 2012 or 2013. The female quota 2014 has been 10.57%, the average attendance including the Public Holidays has been 89.08%.

Analysing the Holiday Camp 2014 shows again interesting statistics like the high and improved attendance, constant female quota, the high re-joining percentage, 13 nationalities from four continents and very important for us children from all eleven Parishes attended – nearly proportional to the respective population. Only 40.87% of the campers are linked to a local football team or club. Not one of the planned 20 full camp days had been cancelled due to bank holidays or any weather condition. We served in total 5’390 meals, distributed nearly a ton of equipment like shirts, shorts, socks or footballs and most important, no serious injuries. Additionally we assisted this year with over 400 pairs of football boots.

Set-up

The Football Holiday Camp 2014 came complete with camp basics but also included extras for parental comfort and focus on the children like health insurance cover, ambulance service, on-site physiotherapist, healthy lunches and fruit breaks, isotonic beverages or shirt, shorts, socks, shinpads for every camper and not to forget the academic football sessions in classrooms, the indoor soccer FUTSAL or the refereeing sessions with a former UK referee and former FA national referee manager. For the age groups 10-14 the charity and partner UNICEF organised workshops about child protection. The registration fee had been BDS$ 50.00 with a refund of BDS$ 20.00 on full participation.

THE BREWSTER TRUST thanks the coaches Ben, Evan, Jamie, Joe, Luis, Matty and Sam and the camp partners for the fantastic support, the external registration offices, the venue partner Queen’s College, PUMA, Massy UNITED Insurance, POWERade, Pinehill, UNICEF, REHABWORKS Health Fitness & Performance Centre, Soldanza, Wibisco, Michael Greaves Associates, Arsenal FC and the many others, who support our charity in the background.
